Well I was lucky enough to get to try out this game as one of my roommates in flight school decided to bring their PS3 with them.

So I ran out and rented Soul Caliber 4. Never really being a fan of the series I figured I had to give this one a try considering I could play as myself. i.e. (Darth Vader) (you can play as Yoda in the XBOX version) The storyline for Vader being included into this game was.... bizare... it didnt seem too plausible but I figured what the heck how bad can it be. Well Vader doesnt even fit into the overall story of the game... hes only in a sub story line that comes out to about 5 levels of gameplay. You cant even play as him through the entire game. Which is acutally a good thing as you cant upgrade his abilities as you can the other characters. I finished the game with him in about 30-45 mins... waaaaaay too short IMHO. I did play as Vader in a ladder style event and ended up fighting against Vaders apprentice from "The Force Unleashed" which was cool but I could only get 1 or 2 hits in on him and then he would wipe the floor with me. NOT FUN! Again not being able to upgrade Vaders abilities was a major hinderance to fighting in the game.

Overall the visuals were cool. It was neat to see vader in action and kicking a little butt but the lack of a continued storyline or upgrade abilities makes the option of using Vader a little less desireable. I give this a C+

I haven't played it myself yet but I did watch Derek play it several times. The graphics look amazing but I have no idea about the story line lol.

Vader progressively gets stronger as you upgrade his weapon and ring. He and the other custom characters you unlock have the disadvantage of not being able to change their armor scheme but as you explore content with other characters on the game Vader's strength and abilities increase. When you are just starting out beating "The Apprentice" is really tough. And if you get two players who are new to the game in versus and pretty much at the mashing buttons stage the player playing The Apprentice will win most of the time. The Apprentice just swings a lot more. When you learn Vader's moves he is a real well rounded character and his force moves, although not as flashy as The Apprentice, hurt a lot more.
